Legislative Session starts in 2025…

The 89th Texas Legislature’s regular session is scheduled from January 14 to June 2, 2025.

Pre-filing of bills began on November 12, 2024. (one was filed in November related to CABs, it is the “city ordinance bill” that has all the same rules that the “payday loan city ordinances” do.

In the initial filings, legislators have introduced bills addressing property taxes, abortion regulations, and gender transition care.

Additionally, over 30 bills targeting transgender individuals have been proposed, indicating a focus on LGBTQ-related issues.

The Republican Party maintains control over both the Texas House and Senate, which is expected to influence the legislative agenda.

No significant bills have been passed since Credit Access Businesses were enacted in 2011.
